The 6 Reasons I Decided to Run for the Board of Education

The 6 Reasons I Decided to Run for the Board of Education

One of the commonly asked questions I receive on the campaign trail is: “Do you have children in the district?” The answer to that is yes, I have six of them. They inspire me every day with their charisma and intelligence. Being able to take […]

Swearing-in 2022.

Swearing-in 2022.

Public Service is a privilege. I’m humbled beyond measure for the trust the communities have placed in me. When I have sworn in 4 years ago, I wasn’t sure there could have been a greater honor. The mere fact that the overwhelming majority of the […]

OSBA Capital Conference 2021

OSBA Capital Conference 2021

Every year the Ohio School Boards Association holds Capital Conference in Columbus. It’s three days full of professional development, training, workshops, and a large trade show. The conference is also loaded with student performances and showcases. We network with fellow board members and administrators across the state, sharing our experiences and learning from one another. My first time here was in 2017 as a Board Member Elect, taking training on Ohio’s Sunshine Laws, Boardsmanship, Negotiations, and more.

This year I was humbled to be appointed to OSBA’s Regional Executive Committee, in addition to my work on the OSBA’s Ambassadors for Public Education Governance Board and serving as our district’s delegate.

I had the opportunity to advocate for not only our students but students across Ohio. While speaking in front of over 550 fellow board members and educators was a bit nerve-racking, my passion for education carried me.

Thank you for allowing me to continue my work on behalf of the students of PCSD 💚

2021 Election Results…

2021 Election Results…

The results are in, and once again I’m humbled beyond words. In nearly every precinct across our 3 cities, you put me ahead of the candidates both new and incumbents. I am honored. Serving on the Board of Education is a privilege and a responsibility […]

It’s been a month…

It’s been a month…

Today marks the one month anniversary of the November 2017 Election;  a historic election for not only the Parma City School District, but on a National Scale. More women ran for local office and were elected than ever before, and I’m honored to be one of those […]

International Literacy Day

International Literacy Day

Today, September 8th  is International Literacy Day. A social media mission to spread awareness was created to take a selfie

posting how words are powerful and literacy empowers.

“As a mom, I read stories to transport my children to another place and time.
As a business owner, I read contracts and write communications with clients.
Everyday, I read inspiring stories, and try and use my words to inspire others.

I read about history, the economy, legislation, gardening, education, and cooking.

Words enhance my life everyday.”

-Amanda Karpus

#powerofwordsCLE

So how do words impact your everyday?

“The world has changed since 1966 – but our determination to provide every woman and man with the skills,

capacities and opportunities to become everything they wish, in dignity and respect, remains as firm as ever.

Literacy is a foundation to build a more sustainable future for all.”

– UNESCO Director-General
